FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are all classes held outdoors?

YES! There is a saying that there is no bad weather, just bad gear. It is important that both children and their caregivers are properly dressed for the winter weather. For a general rule of thumb, layers are best:

1) Base layer - examples are long underwear, leggings, tights, long sleeve shirts

2) Warm layer - examples are sweaters, sweatshirts, fleeces, pants, socks

3) Outer Shell - examples are outer gear that are ideally waterproof like jackets, snow pants, gloves, boots, hats

What if I sign up mid-way through the session?

No worries! Pricing will be prorated to reflect the remaining sessions left. If you have any questions, email Elizabeth at dandelion.explorers@gmail.com.

Will class ever be canceled?

The safety of our children will always come first. Decisions around class cancelation will be communicated at least 90 minutes before class and be determined using local weather predictors and a “Child Care Weather Watch” chart provided by Tinkergarten. This chart uses temperature and wind chill to offer guidelines around safe and dangerous conditions.

What materials should we bring?

In addition to proper clothing and winter gear, the following materials are always helpful:

  • Blanket or mat to sit on at the beginning and end of class.

  • A water bottle and snack. Even though it is cold, proper hydration and fuel are still important!

  • A mug. A special part of winter classes is tea time. While we will provide disposable cups, having their own mug makes tea time a little more special.

  • A change of clothes!

What if we are sick?

Keeping children and their families healthy and safe is a priority of Dandelion Explorers. A detailed health policy will be sent weekly for families to review. But, we ask that if your child or anyone in the household has had any of the following symptoms, you remain home for the day:

  • Temperature of over 100.4 degrees F

  • An undiagnosed rash

  • Vomited in the past 48 hours

  • More than one episode of diarrhea

  • Copious yellow/green mucus discharge from the nose

  • A severe earache, with or without fever

  • A severe sore through with symptoms indicating possible strep throat

  • A persistent cough that won’t stop (not due to other known non-contagious causes)

  • Conjunctivitis (pink eye) with discharge

  • An active infestation of head live

  • A communicable illness

If you are on the fence, call your doctor for advice!
